Project Need:
To upgrade the existing Sewage Treatment Works to meet the tighter effluent consent according to Southern Waters design Standard DST235.
Description of Works;
Tighter final effluent constraints to be imposed under AMP3 meant that the sewage treatment works serving the village of Smiths Lane was in need of replacement. Morrison Brown & Root, being the main contractor, approached Copa Limited to put forward a solution that complied with Southern Waters design Standard DST235.
Copa designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a complete new packaged sewage treatment plant consisting of 2 No GRP Septic tanks, 2 No biological treatment units, 2 No cross flow final settlement tanks and a GRP walk-in kiosk housing an MCC control panel and 3 No. 5.5 kW side channel air blowers. The package works was designed with ease of operation in mind and a long, maintenance free, service life has been ensured by manufacturing the SAF units and final tanks in stainless steel.
