Description of Works:
The existing rectangular bed filter distributors had syphonic feeds, which when broken meant losing a quarter of the treatment capacity. The scheme therefore involved replacing the existing distributors with 16 rotating distributors to allow a greater degree of flexibility and easier management of plant maintenance. The works had to be carried out whilst maintaining 87.5% bed capacity, allowing installation of two circular distributors at any one time. In order to accommodate the circular distributors, fabricated centre wells had to be mounted on the dividing wall, whilst retaining structural integrity.
