Brief Description |
Filter Distributor Refurbishment |

Description of Works:
The works comprised four filter lanes of 16.5m width x 108m length, with two rectangular filter distributors on each lane. A separate winch operated rope haulage system was used for drive of two filter lanes (four distributors). These existing machines had become problematical due to problems with rope breakage, corroded distribution pipes, missing jets causing poor distribution, worn and out of alignment rails and worn winch drives. The scheme therefore involved refurbishment of the existing machines to bring into an ‘as new’ condition. The works had to be programmed to meet the tight consent compliance date set by South West Water due to the impending holiday season..
